Come on over...

Have a seat! There's some iced tea in the pitcher, and a tray of cookies too... just pull your chair up a little closer and relax for a spell. I'm Stephen. The guy who's really good friends with a guitar. (Mind if I play a few bars?) What’s that? This blog isn't very much like the norm, you say? That's great news... because my life is all about abnormalities. :) Well, the Bible says we should be different that the world, right? I'm one of those people who take the 'peculiar people' thing to the EXTREME! ;0 Seriously, this blog is going to be different for a few reasons. (1) I've never blogged before in my life, ever, (2) I'm sorta 'out there', if you know what I mean, (3) I don’t really have a clue what a real blog is supposed to be like, so, I’m blazin’ new trails here…

I guess I’ve been intrigued with writing for as long as I knew how, and I love to read. But the standard that I tend to hold myself to when I try… well, we’ll just have to see. I wasn’t any good in English, but I believe that there is much more to be gained than lost by giving it a go!

Throughout history (if you've ever read some of it...), you'll find that treasures, nations, and worlds rose and fell on just one group of people. Youth. Those tribes, clans and peoples who paid lots of attention to how their youngsters turned out, invariably had the longest and strongest rule. Take Alexander the great for instance. Did he grow up as a happy-go-lucky kid who had all that he could wish for? Not on your life. He was brought up living the life of a soldier. He was trained, pushed, and pressured from day one. Nothing was spared in his upbringing; he even was given his education by none other than Aristotle. What was the result of all of this investment? His extremely grand success as a conqueror!

So then, how is it that we Christians are giving less and less attention to young people? If it's anyone's fault, it's I and my peers who haven't shown ourselves worthy of the investment. "Oh, yeah, that's great for you and grandpa, but these are modern times! You don't really expect us to make our entire world revolve around Jesus, do you?" And so a lot of folks just don't believe that it's even possible. But...

It is my firm belief that if a biblical example is set by a few vocal teens and young adults who aren't afraid to LEAD, the impact can be incredible. And it is my resolution, that if anything can be done, I will do my part to help get it rolling. This blog is dedicated, not to showcasing a perfect individual whose every move should be emulated, but to giving young folks a general idea of how one can be a dedicated christian without 'missing out' on a thing!

So, then, compadres, hang in there, bury your nose in the Word, and keep on serving and magnifying HIM 'til that great and wonderfully awesome day!
